Helloooooooo Spring! Well, maybe not yet. But, soon. Isn’t it great the way God does makeovers on the seasons? Just as we are getting tired of one look, He brings us another. And right now, I’m sure most of us can’t wait for the spring look to appear.
I love makeovers! Especially at my age. Just any little trick to make my face look younger and my stomach not to stick out so much and for my springs not to sag. (“Springs” can mean anything you want it to mean. I know my where my “springs” are sagging.)
Well, whatever–I hope that your makeover is as dramatic as these chairs we’ve got ready for the Spring event. As you know, I always look at the “bones” of a chair before I invest in it. And this one was great. I could see the potential right from the get go. As I started to tear into this project, my shoulder reminded me that I had hurt it somehow, and it wasn’t going to happen for me to do the job. April, of The Added Touch, had her projects going and said, she just couldn’t do it for me. Well, one of the girls who has done incredible work for me before came to mind. I called her up and she was so glad to do it. From now on, she’s going to be one of the girls I use for projects we’re too busy to get to.
Everyone so loved the first chair we did in the check. Many of you asked about buying it. Well, it was our first upholstery job and there were so many little things that I had wished I had done differently that I would not sell it. So it’s not that I am only going to have black and cream checked upholstery on everything imaginable. While I do love it, but I can’t wait to do some pieces in really bold prints.
If you are really wanting to get a bargain on a chair, it is probably cheaper to go to a store and pick one off the floor that is on sale. However, have you been furniture shopping lately. They don’t make furniture like they used to, do they? However, if you’ve got a chair that you just love, that fits your body, and has great “bones”, then reupholstering is for your. We’ll help you pick out suitable fabric, give you a bid, and take care of the rest.

Here is my black and white addition to the re-upholstered furniture world. Yes, Debbie and I do believe in other colors, but starting with the basics is always a good plan.
I found this 1950’s slipper chair at an antique store. I know it’s age because when I tore it apart, I found the manufacturing label. It was nice to know this little chair’s origin. It was actually made right here in the good old USA! However, it was in need of some work as you can see.
This was a fun little project. I hope you will come out to the shop and see her in person.
