Hi Girlfriends!
I told you I would let you see the fireplace mantle to coordinate with the hearth we did last week. So here it is.
One thing that I forgot to mention and I really, really want to stress, you need to use really nice greenery when you do these pieces or you will not get the look you want to achieve. So what better place to find really nice garlands, but right here:)
We’re going to use the same principal as the mantle. There will be one key element though that is different. You’ll see what it is and see how much just this little touch will be a big “wow” factor for your mantle. Put the garland (remember nice garland) on the hearth. Just lay it on there and hook it with some plastic hooks you can find it at any hardware or big box store. They come with several in a package. Or you can tape the garland on (if you’re not worried about taking the paint off.)
As you can see I deliberately made the garland a little higher in the middle to add some interest and make it look Fuller. Next, add the lights. Don’t forget the lights. They are sooooo important.
Next add the garland, (the blingy kind). It’s starting to take shape. But this next thing will be what makes the whole look come alive and draw the eye in.
This is it. Take two long picks and stuff them into the middle area of the mantle. Do you see it? It’s what makes something go from good to “wow”.
That’s it. I wish it were harder to do and that I could convince you that only a designer could do something so amazing. But remember we’re here to bring out the “designer within you”.
Lot’s of new stuff for you to enjoy this Christmas. I can’t wait for you to see the larger nativities I ordered for this year. I’ll share some ideas with you about bringing your nativities to life in a future blog post.
Love to you all and hope to see you at our Christmas Open House—October 27, 28 and 29. See website for hours. The cider’s here for you!
