You might be wondering what’s been happening at Memories of Home!

The departure of April from The Added Touch in late July left a noticeable void in the shop. We’ve been working together since 1989, crafting products for many wonderful people who have become our friends. It’s truly been difficult to see that empty space, and there’s definitely a hole in my heart because things are different now. I’m sure you’ve all felt it when someone you love deeply isn’t around as much as they once were. However, April has already expressed her desire to take me to market and go on antiquing excursions, which I’m looking forward to.

As I told my husband the other night while sitting on the porch, things are always changing, and nothing ever remains the same. Now, I can head out to the barn and start working, knowing I have a new space to fill. I’m genuinely enjoying the little “finds” I’m incorporating for the rest of the year, and I’m even smiling as I begin to stage the shop.

My little stump pumpkins are almost ready, and my girl scarecrow is prepared to ward off those black crows. She’s not quite ready yet, but I’ll have her for viewing next week.
I also ordered some metal cattails and can’t wait to stage them in the shop. Nothing says “country” more to me than seeing those cattails growing in the ponds, and guess what? These won’t shed! 😊

I also found an adorable cabinet that could easily hang on a wall. It will be fun to see all the uses you’ll find for it. Perhaps some of you have a spot on your counter where everyone tosses their keys, spare change, and other bits and bobs. This cabinet would be perfect for hiding keys or anything else you might put in a “junk drawer.”

And I simply can’t pass up mentioning something I was so drawn to at an antique store: a pitcher that absolutely screams fall with its acorns on the front. I hope it finds a special home, but then again, what do I have to fear? You’re all special.

There’s a lot to accomplish this week as I plan on finishing up my autumn products that I’m making. Then I start Christmas. I still haven’t received most of my autumn product shipments that I ordered at Market in January, but when they arrive, I’ll be sure to tell you all about them.

I’m so glad my God can take a seemingly loss and turn it into a new adventure.
Wishing you a great week!
Lots of love,
Debbie

You continue to be a shining beacon light to me and many others. It’s been a few years since I bought my 1st Amazing Grace (at Hillsboro craft bonanza…..) that still hangs in different spots in my home. I love it soooo much!
