Next weekend is Mother’s Day weekend. Yes, that’s right – – May 9, 10 and 11.

I don’t know about mothers and their daughters, but I know April, of The Added Touch, and I have always fallen in love with different textiles. I love mixing patterns, as most of you probably can tell by the way I dress or the way I put different ribbons together in bows. Quite frankly, I find mixing patterns makes me happy and keeps me from getting bored.

However, not too long ago I had an experience that made me a little less confident of doing much of that.

I was coming out of our church and there were several people in front of me and several people behind me. I was about maybe 15 feet away from a person that yelled, ” Boy! You sure have a lot going on there with your coat and your shoes.”

I wasn’t sure who she was talking to. So, I turned around and saw that she was looking straight at me and laughing, and the people behind me were laughing also. I smiled and thought, “Well you sure know how to make one’s day.”😞Sorry, I’m just being keeping it real with you.

So as I walked out to the car, not knowing whether I should crawl under a bridge or go back to the woman and talk with her about what her point was.

However, it was Sunday and I had just walked out of church. Thank God, because I felt a little more restrained than I might’ve been at a later time.

I became somewhat insecure about my fabric mixing, questioning myself about all my choices.

But, I’m back on my feet again, a little more daring than before. So as I share some of the patterns, I’m putting together, please do what my mother always told me. I believe Pooh Bear said this also.

“If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all.”😊

I have two chairs. I’m getting ready to upholster and I bought this pink, multicolored floral and thought I would use it for the body of the chair and put the stripe on the seat.

However, common sense got the best of me, and I decided I would go with a more neutral palette, as I am a little nervous about the pink. If it were one chair I might take a chance. However, it’s two chairs, and I’m going with a more neutral common color, rather than colors used less often these days.
(Even though I love pink!)

And so as I’ve shopped fabric this last week, I’m going to try a new idea of using fabric in a different way than the norm. I’ll share it with you next week and maybe we’ll have a class after Mother’s Day on how to make this new piece of artwork.

Hope to see you at our Mother’s Day Event, May 9, 10 and 11. Twenty percent off of the florals.

PS. Well, it’s going to be a little longer than planned on the new project. While working on this with me, my husband got his thumb in the table saw. He’ll be all right. He just needs to heal and get his stitches out. 😊

Blessings!
