Autumn Event
September 12-16
Well, these truly are the ”dog days of Summer.” It’s really hard to believe that in a few short weeks, we will be experiencing, what I hope to be a beautiful autumn. I really have no hopes that the air will be crisp, but I can always dream.
Every time I walk into my shop, turn on the lights, and look around I think to myself “ I love my shop.” Sometimes I wonder what I would do without all of you. It keeps me working hard to have you keep coming back and experiencing the different seasons here at Memories of Home.

This week I had a very sad call from someone telling me that one of my customers had gone on to be with the Lord. As great as being with the Lord sounds, the thought of not seeing her for a very long time makes me very sad.
So my reason for telling you this is that all of you have a profound affect on me, even though you may not know it. I love shopping for items that I think a lot of you would like, and the thought of one being absent from that list does make me sad. However, I know life goes on, times change, trends change, where we live changes and takes on different meaning as we journey different avenues of our lives.
Autumn is one of those things that changes and shows that change truly is beautiful.

And speaking of change, I finished the chairs, and hope someone finds them beautiful. They were fun to do, but as many of you know that have done upholstery work, it’s hard work and labor-intensive.
Another thing that I purchased to sell because of its’ antiquity was this mirror, but also even now it is timeless. Even in a contemporary home, I think it would add an element of surprise to the perfect spot as well as an interest of the unexpected. I loved this mirror when I saw it and knew it had to come to the shop with me. Actually, I purchased it at the same time I purchased the chairs. And talk about labor intensive, it was all hand carved.

I leave on another antiquing expedition this Friday and Saturday with some girlfriends. Hopefully, we will find some unique treasures and bring them home to you.
As I mentioned earlier, my customers are always on my mind, and even if you don’t know it, I pray for many of you often. I love it when you tell me your concerns as you check out at the cash register when no one else is around. And sometimes even when there’s many around and you tell me your story anyway.

But I do want you to know you all mean the world to me! God has been so good to me to bring me such wonderful customers, who many times have become my friends!

Forever thinking of you,
Debbie
