O.K.  I admit it.  Sometimes I just don’t like to get rid of something that I loved 15 years ago.  Yes, it’s out of style, but I loved it then and I still love it now.  But, I am supposed to keep up with trends in the line of work that I do.  So—-I set out to change my dining room and entryway light fixtures.  I tried Lowes and Home Depot and what was there was so normal.  Everyone has one of those light fixtures.  I don’t like “normal”.  So off I went to a real lighting store.  WOW!!!!!!What a difference!!!!!!!!And what a difference in price.

I want the light fixtures from the lighting store.  But, at this time, $1000.00 is a bit much for our budget to take.  So what am I going to do “make do” for a couple of years and still stay on trend?

Then I remembered what a girlfriend did to her light fixture.  So I set out to get lampshades to go on my “gold” light fixture.  What a difference a lampshade can make.  I needed 15 of them and it came to a little over $100.  But, when I put all 15 of them on it looked a little “lampshady”. The light was very romantic, but my grandkids and son-in-laws don’t go for the romantic look at our family dinners.  So I removed 5 of the shades in the center row and it looked great and gave out a lot more light than it has with all 15 shades on them.

It was just a little tweak, but it will keep me happy until I can get to go to the not-so-normal lighting store and purchase the not-so-normal light fixture.
