Hello, Everyone!

Thanks so much for all of you who ventured out in the rain storms and heat and came to our annual Warehouse Sale. It was great of you and we had a wonderful event. I love to see all the bargains you scoop up for Christmas gifts and, of course, gifts for yourselves.

That next Monday morning I knew it was get busy and get going because I have a million boxes of products to get check in and priced. (Well, maybe not a million, but close to it, it seemed like.) There it was. I was face to face with a SNAKE! Never before had I had an encounter so close as this one.

What was I to do? Well, scream, of course. My husband was at work and he didn’t hear me. So I called him and he said he would come right home. What I was so worried about was that that serpent was going to get in among my boxes of merchandise and jump out at me unexpectedly. If I left the door open he might crawl out. But, I couldn’t go off and leave it that way. And I knew it would be around 20 minutes, at the very least, before my husband would be home. Think of all the places the snake could go in that 20 minutes.IMG_2031

So I did what I knew my husband would do and went and put his boots on. The snake just sat there all that time. Could I run over him? No. So, I went for the shovel which was close to this creature. He didn’t move. Ugh! Just do something!!!

So he did. He started striking at me as I brought the shovel toward him. I never knew what that looked like and it does strike terror in me I know even now. But, one thing, it made him move under a board that we had in front of the garage.

Ok. What now?? He still could go back in the garage. So I prayed a lot and stepped on the board and caught the end of the snake so that he could not move out from under it. What next? I don’t know, I never had done this before.

Even though his body was caught, it didn’t stop him from striking at me. He was ticked. I was scared, very scared! So I did what I knew everybody said they do and went for his neck with the sharp end of the shovel.

Well, I didn’t get the neck. But close! I knew I had stunned him. Then I had a dilemma, do I lift the shovel another time and go for his neck again? Yep. That’s what I did. This time it was right on target. He was still moving, but I felt as though he was a goner. So I stood there with the shovel on his neck waiting for my husband to get here. And, of course, I took pictures with one hand while I had my foot firmly planted on the shovel.

When my husband arrived he was quite surprised that I had killed the snake. Truthfully, so was I and I never want to do it again!

So now I can get back to the business of getting all the products priced and ready to be in the shop for our Autumn Open house. Please mark your calendar for September 6 – 10. We can’t wait to see you!
