Hello Everyone,

This past weekend I was working with a woman, helping her get the “Wow” factor into the rooms of her home. Once I get started on those consultations I understand why people say I sometimes I give out so much information that it’s like drinking from a fire hydrant. I can’t help myself. I love to see women love their homes and decorate the way they want.

Most people think my home is decorated like my shop. I spend so much time in the shop that many times I neglect my own home. I need to fix that, and I will–someday.

I’ve left my winter décor out long after it was time to put it to rest. But, I enjoy the solitude of winter so much, until it’s time for spring. And it’s time for spring–probably long past time for spring.

A Decorator friend of mine posted a story that happened to her as she began helping another woman give her home a makeover. The woman she was helping relayed an event that she had happen to her while looking for a new sofa. She had brought her best friend furniture shopping with her. My decorator friend’s client said she told her friend how much she loved a specific sofa and her best friend said, “I think that sofa is so ugly and outdated.” So her client told the decorator friend of mine I want you to purchase my sofa for me because I don’t know anything about what’s in and what’s not.

Well my Decorator friend said, “Wait a minute! You mean to tell me that your best friend gets to go home every night to a sofa she loves and you want to go home to a sofa I love? No, we want the sofa you love, not the one that someone else loves.”

I think that was so appropriate of her to say. As a Decorator/Designer myself I know trends come and go. The gray that was so popular 5-10 years ago, now people are screaming for “color” in their homes–bold colors. I am so glad. I also think the “whimsy” in homes is what people want now. No longer do they want the expected–but more of the unexpected bright colors that add so much cheer to the home. And after the last few years, I think we could all use a big dose of cheer.

That’s just another reason I’m so excited about our beginning spring event and I know a lot of you are because I’m getting so many calls for the spring’s happy colors in the special orders I’m receiving.

You’ll see the happy colors in my antique chairs that I’ve given a new life. It’s the perfect time to bring not only color, but also “whimsy” into your abode. And then in a very short time, you’ll be outside in the garden enjoying the new life in your gardens even as you have brought in the bright colors you experience in nature inside your homes. And nothing could be better than to have the “happy” in our homes.
