Hi, my dear friends! Just wanted to send you a look at a little fun project I did this summer and invite you to the upcoming fall event.

Chalkboards are really a big thing now. And for me, that’s a good thing because I need all the help I can get to remind me of things I need to take care of. This one is one that really fits the bill for me because I need something really big (kind of “in your face”) type of thing in front of me all the time. I put it in my kitchen area so just really “close” friends can see my “to do” list.

First of all, I took a picture frame. This one was really big. Some of you may remember that it had a big, beautiful cross framed and in the center of it. The frame had some issues so I called the company and they sent me a new frame and picture. So I disposed of the frame and thought “Wait a minute. I can do something with this.” So I dug it out and waited for the perfect project.

I loved the detail on this frame and knew that if I distressed it, it would be really neat. So I went to work and painted it a color called “white chocolate”.

I then distressed it, oh so slightly. I decided not to put a darker glaze over it (which would have brought out the intricate details of the frame) but it would not have looked as good with my woodwork as it does now.

Then we got a smooth board and applied chalkboard paint according to their directions. Fit it to the opening in the frame and slipped it in the frame.

And YAY, it was done. I love it. (Have you ever noticed that I say I love everything?) Well, I guess that’s just me, because I do love a lot of things.

Speaking of which my Autumn Open House is September 8, 9 and 10 and I would LOVE to see you. And don’t forget about the giveaway we mentioned last week.

The cider’s waiting for you!!!
