Autumn in the Barn
September 7-11

Greetings on another hot August day!

I just walked out into my shop to start working for the day, and I realized how much I love this place. It’s always been my happy place, but nowadays it seems to be an even happier place than I’ve experienced in the past.

It’s not without its challenges. My autumn products were coming in great and I was so excited and then all of a sudden – – nothing. And as I’ve called my vendors this week, they will probably not be any new items coming for me until the next to the last week in August. So as a store owner it’s frustrating not to be able to get the store staged a head of time and know what places I need to fill in.

You want to know what a few of those challenges are?

When you get your shipments late you run into quality control problems. Here’s one I think you will enjoy looking at and come to appreciate what we deal with every season.

This was a beautiful sunflower painting that I purchased at market and of course then they would ship it to me when it was ready. However, when I received the sunflower painting I was sorely disappointed.

This was what it actually looked like. I knew I was going to reject this and wondered if the company would take it back. I do not like being “that customer,” but they had left me no choice.

All I could say to them was that it must’ve been a really bad day for painting because this was not at all what I purchased. After a few back-and-forth’s, they finally decided that they would accept it back. I’m sure they saw a side of me that wasn’t pretty. So frustrating!

However, after putting the pros and cons on a piece of paper about whether to just give it all up, I decided I love this business too much. I love seeing all of you too much, and I also love purchasing products. I love decorating, staging and most of all, creating.

So as I air my frustrations with you, thank you for being my sounding board and thank you for making me realize how much I love the business as well as the customers.

It will be great to see you all for our first Autumn event of the season on September 7 through the 11th.

Blessings!
Debbie
