Hello, my dear friends. It’s about to happen. Just like it does every year. For such a short while the beautiful Forsythia branches will start to bloom and I will enjoy them for as long as I can have them. As any one knows who reads my blog at this time of the year, memories flood over me as I remember what my mother used to say to me. She would fill my soul with hopes of the antcipated blooming of the Forsythia bush. It was like ushering in the Queen, for my mother so loved her Forsythia bush and all its’ glory. I can still remember her sweet voice say, “Oh look at the Forsythia bushes girls. It’s soon going to be Spring.”
I could never remember the name of the bush until one day I noticed how much it sounded like my dear little sister’s name, Cynthia. So I would always remember my sweet little sister’s face and think of the lovely yellow bush. I would call it the For-Cynthia bush. I will never tire of the bush nor of the sweet memories it ushers in each Spring.
So what better way to prolong the beautiful season than to have a wall pocket outside my front door filled with the forsythia I so love. What I love about this wall pocket is that it can be used outdoors or indoors. We’re going to decorate for outdoors today, but there is never anything wrong with bringing the outside in. And this pocket is so fun for EACH season.
This whole arrangement took me all of 20 minutes to do for all of these seasons. First I gather branches from trees we had trimmed last year. I had begged my husband not to get rid of them. I think he forgot about them as they lay outside the back of the barn. Yaaaay! They were still there.
Then I took this Forsythia garland and wrapped it through the branches. I didn’t want to have it real full because I wanted to usher in the green green foliage when all the trees and grass are in full bloom. And do you see the little fellow who is about to take up residence within the Forsythia and branches?
I wondered what to do in the coming months. I knew in April, I would want to enjoy the beautiful tulips that will be coming out of the ground, and they won’t last long either. But, the ones in my store will last a long, long time.
Add the bird, and you’ve got a design that most every one loves.
Or if you wish, a nest would be beautiful also.
So quick and so easy. Imagine what you could do with this all year long. We’ll be glad to help you design a spring arrangement of your own.
