Hello, again, all my dear little ladies.

Just wanted to ask you to mark your calendars that we’ll be open May 8, 9, and 10—Mother’s Day weekend. It’s going to be a weekend where we celebrate for 3 days, rather than just on Mother’s Day Sunday. And just to make your weekend special, April, of The Added Touch, and I are going to make chocolate covered strawberries for you to enjoy in our shop.

I’ve made new flower arrangements for this event and this Iris so reminds me of my mother. She loved flowers so much. I can remember how the Irises in our flower bed would always be blooming for Mother’s Day each year. Now that I think of it, that is the only flowers my Mother got on Mother’s Day when we were kids. But, we did pick them for her and you would have thought they came from an expensive florist the way she made over them. And the Lilacs she grew we so fragrant I can almost enjoy the smell even though the Lilacs I use are silk. I’ll never grow tired of that memory.

Mom loved birds, also. She would feed them every day. None of them ever ate the seed out of her hand, but I am sure they felt safe when she held her hand out to them.

I placed a picture of the bird atop my cabinets. Every time I see them above my cabinets, I think of mom. I hope my children place little reminders of me round their house when I am gone. That way they can enjoy me as much as I am enjoying all the little things my mom did for all of us.

Isn’t it funny? It’s the really small things that we remember that our moms did for us. The things that they thought were probably insignificant. Yet, they are the things that we find the most significant now to us.  I guess the saying that says, “At the end of our life, we’ll find that the small things were really the big things all along.”
