Well, everyone, it’s been a few weeks since I have sent out an email. Truthfully I am exhausted from being so busy. Myself, Joe and our son and his best friend just returned from a short vacation, and I feel more tired than I did after our show in Hilllsboro or Scott City in western Kansas.

As I mentioned, we just returned from Branson from a short vacation. We took my son and a very special friend of his. I think we walked 20 miles each day and I know they rode every ride at Silver Dollar City! Watching my son and his friend ride all the rides made all of us exhausted! Walking that much and seeing that much excitement did just remind me of how old my husband and I are getting.

One of the greatest things to see was how nice and understanding everyone was when then see the boys together. Having special needs has never slowed them down! It’s like the Lord just has given us so many angels to help with these unique individuals.

We returned from Branson on Saturday and on Sunday, as usual, I went to pick up another special friend with Down Syndrome to take her to church with me. She has blessed me so much.

I knew I had to be on the west side of Wichita shortly after church was over. Instead of taking her out for lunch, I told her that we were going through the drive through of a restaurant that she loves to get fried chicken from. I thought she might be disappointed because we weren’t going in to sit down and eat.

To my amazement, she said on the way to the restaurant how excited she was. I questioned her and said, “You’re happy we’re going through the drive through?”

She said, “Sure! Now I’m just like all the other kids. I’m going through the drive through with my friend and we’re going to eat in the car while we’re driving. Just like all the other kids do with their friends.”

My heart was so touched. The truth was, I was hurrying to get her home, and all she wanted to do was be with a friend. To go through a drive-thru with a friend, just like all the other kids do. She had no agenda, no plans, no worries except being a friend to me. And yet, I was in a hurry and not aware what this meant to her.

I am so thankful that the Lord has blessed me with so many “special people” in my life. I wish I could be as special to others as they are to me. I would not trade knowing these people for any riches I could ever have. They are my treasures.

I want you to know that knowing you are reading this post is very special to me. I know you could read so many other blogs that are so much better written than mine, yet you read this. I am humbled by your friendship and the way you let me not only talk about my business, but also share my life.

As much as I love telling you about these special moments in my life, I know that you are also reading to hear about our events. So, while to end this on a lighter note, our next event is happening soon. It’s our Christmas Open House. Yes, it’s the last week of October and we’ll be showing mostly Christmas. Some Fall items–and they will be 20% off. Hope we see you!
