I just wanted to take a minute, girls, to share with you some of the exciting vintage looking pieces we’re going to have for the next event.

As I am sure you already know, “Vintage” is really hot in decorating now. I know, I know, but you say, my style is not vintage. Well, I think the appeal that vintage has is that it takes us back to the days of a little more simplicity in our lives. You know, the kind of feelings you get when you think about your grandmother. I can still taste my grandmother’s peach cobbler. There is none to compare. You know–the lard she used in the crust. I haven’t “really” tasted that wonderful lard taste for YEARS!!!!

The cow print’s appeal to me was a memory that I have of a picture in my grandmother’s parlor. It hung there for years until her pet parakeet escaped from her cage and pecked a huge hole in it. My grandfather never knew the truth about what happened to the picture, or he would have made my grandmother serve the parakeet for dinner. He never liked her bird.

But truly, mixing up the vintage look with our boring “traditional” decorating brings an interest to our decorating that’s been missing as we have tried to get everything oh so right and so formal. It just makes the spaces more real and relevant to our lives now. It makes us step back in time and think of having lemonade on the back porch and listening to the screen door slam. Oh, how I miss those people and times that have been in my life!

Gotta go for now. I think I’ll make a peach cobbler, using lard and gluten.

I’ve missed seeing all of you for the last few months. And don’t forget our first event here in the barn/shop is March 22 – 26. I can’t wait for Spring!

Love you all!
Debbie
