Our first Christmas open house is almost here. Am I ready yet? No. But I promise I will be by Tuesday, oh wait, that is tomorrow! I’m always finding one more thing to do. I know how Santa’s little elves must feel at this time of the year.
This year I’ve been featuring a lot of designs on antiques. They fly out the door faster than I can get them made. I’m not sure what the magic in them is, but I know when I find a tricycle that reminds me of when I was a kid, I grab it. Oh, how it makes me smile. Just the memory of 5 of us kids sharing a hand me down tricycle, brings my childhood to life again and I forget that I am ?? years old and not 8 or 5 years old. Oh for the days when I could ride the trike and have my mother help me work the pedals. Just one more time for my father to be proud of me when I learned to ride my bike that I got for Christmas. I would give anything to have them here with me.
So, the antiques are just a way of keeping my past alive. Only the good part of my past!! And really, my mom and dad seem to be right here with me, helping me make Christmases fun for others just like they did for me. I love this season and the rich memories it brings to mind.
I hope I can bring some dear memories to your home this season. Hopefully, I’ll be able to see you at the event! Maybe we’ll make some sweet memories together.
