Last week a friend of mine called and we were talking about decorating.  One of the most frequent comments is “I don’t know where to start.”  While talking to me friend, I realized and good answer to that dilema.  Just start by buying one new item.  See how it inspires you.

My friend told me that she never knew what a difference one re-do could make.  In her case she merely updated her kitchen light fixture.  She has a beautiful brass fixture, one that you would have died for in the 90’s.

Well, now it’s not so cool.  What she did was take little lamp shades that were black and white checked and added them to each one of the light bulbs.  Wow, what a statement. Probably about 10 shades in all.

Now, she’s headed to the stores to buy wood floors, carpeting and possibly paint for her cabinets.
