Autumn Event, September 6-10
Greetings fellow decorators! It’s a good day to have a great day!
Sometimes, as a designer, you have good days and you have bad days. I’ve been known time and time again to tear something up that I’ve worked long and hard on, just because I didn’t like it a few days later. Then I would reinvent it and sometimes I’m happy with it and sometimes, not so much. Do you ever have days or weeks, or maybe even longer times like that?

Well, you’re not alone. I tend to second guess everything I do sometimes. I ask myself, “Will my customers like this style, or does it look “cheesy” and on and on I go. This past week has been no exception.

I’m so thankful that my husband, when I need him to do something for me, doesn’t question my design skills. He just does what I say and lives by the mantra, “Happy wife, Happy life.” Little does he know, I don’t doubt his skills; it’s mine I’m worried about.
I like to bring things home from my hunting expeditions that need to be given a new life. A couple of weeks ago I brought some antique sled runners home from an antique store and told him we were going to create a sled coffee table. (Notice I said “we”?) He didn’t say a word other than, I’ll get to it soon. And he did! We also used the top of an old beautiful table that we had used for another project. The sled coffee table is in the making right now but I thought I would share with you the project in progress.
On that same expedition, I found an antique table that needed a little attention. I plan on giving it a new look soon, but maybe not before our Autumn Open House September 6-10. It’s fun breathing new life into these otherwise castaways.
I think these antique pieces connect us to our past. Sometimes they give comfort to our spirit as we remember times that made us happy or even sometimes sad. But sometimes sad things are cathartic (adjective) I in remembering where we’ve been and where we’re going.
I wanted to share a song the Lord gave me this week, especially when I needed it most. “On this Good Day.” It will make you smile. ( I hope.)

Anxious to see your sled table as I have a couple of old sleds that may need repurposed!
Great song Debbie, thanks for sharing! Made me smile after a long day at work. Bless you!
