Mark your calendars for our Spring Event!
March 21-25

Sometimes spur of the moment trips are the best!

As many of you know, my husband had another surgery in January and is still recuperating with his rotator cuff. Only 2 more weeks and then he starts his physical therapy. We’ve had so many people say how hard that will be. Nevertheless, he is thankful as well as hopeful that he’ll be back to full speed soon. However, most all he’s been doing is LOTS of paperwork.

To me paperwork is the most horrible kind of work and I am grateful that he will do it for the business. Otherwise, I’d have to quit immediately because paperwork is torture to me. It rates up there with housework. I know it has to be done and I love a clean house. But, it’s no fun!

So let’s have some fun and go to the Kansas City area, right? Being the good sport that he is, he committed to go and showed no sign of hesitation especially when I mentioned a favorite BBQ place in KC. However, antiquing is not his or my son’s “thing.”

But a customer of mine told me about a store in a city I had never heard of. Her sister was a vendor there and it sounded so intriguing I had to go check it out. I bought something in every little shop that was in the town. Actually, little shops like this are what made up the Greenwood business district.

If you love “primitives” you’re going to love “Old Glory’s” she has several areas in the Greenwood Vintage Market. That’s where I found the vintage child’s chair. The store has a tea room that everyone said is delightful. Judging by the looks on their customers faces, I’d say it’s something I’d like to check out with the girls. (Tea rooms with mostly men just doesn’t seem right.😊)

So I thought it would be great to share this little spot with all of you. There’s so much to do in the Kansas City area. It makes those little girlfriend trips so exciting. And of course, as I explored the area, I found so much more to do. I knew it would have to wait for another time and another trip to Greenwood, Missouri. However, even in this little area, I found so many projects to work on or bring home for you.

As many of you know, I love to rescue antique chairs and give them a “new meaning in life.” I especially love children’s chairs. As a child I can remember how rich I thought some of my friends were because they had children’s chairs just like those on “Pollyanna.” Perhaps that memory is what I love so much and I want to keep it alive not only in the shop, but in your homes. I’ll show you some “after” pictures when they’re done. But right now they are a work in progress.

Oh!!! So much to do and so little time. But I thank God for the time he has given me and can’t wait to see the inspiration that he gives through so many other talented artists. If only I had started sooner.

So for now, I just wanted to let you know about this little diamond in the rough and maybe you can discover Greenwood, Missouri.

Don’t forget our Spring Event is March 21-25. The store will be stuffed to the brim with fabulous merchandise. I can’t wait for you to see it all. It just keeps rolling in here on the trucks.

Blessings!
Debbie
