Warehouse sale, July 13, 14, and 15

I suppose you all are wondering what we’ve been doing this summer. No, no trips abroad or sky diving this month. But I did promise myself that this summer I was going to do some things that were out of the normal. I am redoing my whole upstairs including redoing the furniture. I’m hoping to show you some pictures by the end of the summer. Definitely going to make some big changes. And after 22 years, I think that a makeover is in order.

Sometimes when you build your new house you (especially your husband) thinks that it’s done forever. NOT! However, getting your husband to wrap his arms around the idea can sometimes take some strategizing. Or should I say “convincing.” Now, my husband is great. He just doesn’t see the huge stains on the carpet or the walls that are needing an update. Everything is cool to him. What could possibly be wrong with the new bedspread you purchased 22 years ago? (He’s not really that bad.)

I said all that to say, he’s on board now and I am definitely moving at break neck speed before he backs out. He’s going to be installing my new vanity in the master bath this weekend while I’m gone to market. (Sometimes it’s better for him if I am not in the house. Imagine that!) I know it will be perfect when I get home.

I said all that to say that “Yes”, I’ve been very busy. Not only with the house, but with my adorable grandchildren and our Special Olympics team. (My husband likes working with Special Olympics Team members better than me. They’re not as bossy as I am.)

Special Olympics

At the end of May I spent some time with my out of town grandchildren. My grandchildren and I created flower crowns for the tea party we were going to have. And of course, one thing led to another and my 15 minute tea party took 2 hours to get ready for. (That does not include the cake that I had baked before I even came to see them.) So, if you make a flower crown you have to have the right party dress to go with it. And of course, the hair needs to be at it’s finest with so much hairspray that it won’t move. Yep, 2 hours of prep for a tea party of chocolate cake, Chai Tea, and of course home made whipping cream. And after all that, I took a nap.

Some of my other grandchildren spent the day with me so their mother could get ready for a conference at which she was speaking. So we pulled out the tricycles and wagons that my own daughters had played with when they were at their grandparents. I know they felt like they had just stepped back in time. However, I think they had a good time. And, yes I wanted to take a nap before I went to bed for the evening. But, oh what memories it brought back of my children as they played during the hot summer days. Where did those days go?

I’ll keep you posted about our trip to market. This is a highlight of our year. It’s there that we go and see some of the finest designer’s in the world’s work. You just don’t have any idea of how inspiring this is. It keeps us fresh and on-trend.
