What a great warehouse sale we had. My husband told me that at one time on the morning of the warehouse sale, we had 25 cars scattered throughout the property. Women love sales. We had very little left over and that’s great because the new products are coming in quickly right now. And boy do I have a lot of products coming!

I was talking to my social media guru and told her that we see people we never see for this sale. She educated me that some people might not feel they can purchase some of our beautiful, quality products at a regular price. (But most of you know I try to keep my products as low as possible and stay in business.) So, consequently, they only come for a sale with extreme markdowns. So I’m thinking of doing a special section in the store called “Warehouse 40” and bringing you products for 25%-40% off during the remainder of the year. We’ll see how it goes. And then these customers will see how we keep our prices reasonable.

Some of you ask why I’m not open all the time like regular stores in town. Just thought I’d let you know why we do the business the way we do.

1. I don’t have any drive-by business because of the location. But, many people tell me it’s the location they love because of the drive. My customer base is the surrounding areas of towns—Wichita, Derby, Andover and on band on. The drive is relaxing and sometimes pretty. (I can’t say “beautiful” because it would be a gross exaggeration–no mountains, waterfalls, cool temperatures in the summer.) But Kansas is beautiful in its own way. 💕 And boy do we have beautiful products.

2. Because, as you may have noticed, I make a lot of the products that are here in the shop as well as, just through the displays, educate people in home decorating. We love, love, love to do that. Then we bring you products that you can stage in your own house. And trust me, as the owner of the shop, designing while we have customers just doesn’t work well for me. I love being with you all too much. I’m blessed to have women help me who love designing as well as loving on my customers for me when I’m not available. I love them as I love you!

(Guess what this upholstery project is going to be. Big reveal next week.)

3. One thing I had never wanted was to be married to a store and not be able to be available to my family. Even at times running the store like I do, I run into that dilemma. But I have a great family, who understands and great workers that work through these issues with me.

4. I get lots of special orders and I need to work on those as well as keep up with life. I do not plan to retire any time soon, but I want to be with people that need me for whatever different reasons. I love most everyone and love to pray for their needs as well as minister in other ways. I don’t want to be so busy that I don’t have time for the most important thing in life–people.

5. Also, we do special shows around the mid United States and love it! I meet some of the greatest people who tell me how grateful they are that we bring these products to them.

6. We’ve been blessed with a Down Syndrome son and he gets home from work and has to have someone here to be available for him. Yes! He is one of the greatest blessings to our life. He teaches us so much about life! Much more than “normal people.”

There are so many reasons why we do what we do the way we do. These are just a few.

Please mark your calendars for our first Autumn Event-September 6-10. We can’t wait!

Blessings!
Debbie
